Dear friends, today we answer your questions about sun protection - an important and much-discussed topic:
Simplified facts: Natural sunlight stimulates vitamin D production and improves mood. On the other hand, it's also known that excessive UV-A radiation causes skin to age faster and pigment spots, while excessive UV-B radiation can trigger both sunburn and cancer in skin cells.
Did you know that UV-A rays can penetrate through glass panes – even up to 60%? During long car or train journeys, for example, sitting directly at the window
So a clear yes! for sun protection.
There are numerous sunscreen products available. Despite this, or perhaps precisely because of this, questions often arise when trying to find the right sunscreen.
The perfect sun protection It's supposed to protect our skin from UV-A and UV-B radiation, be as natural (chemical vs. mineral filters, controversial nanoparticles) and environmentally friendly (marine coral-friendly?) as possible, and be skin-caring to boot. Not so easy in practice.
The basics:
1. Headgear , sunglasses and protective clothing (for children from head to toe).
2. Avoid direct sunlight - "Siesta rule" , i.e. from 12 - 15 o'clock in the shade rather than in the sun.
3. Sunscreen is a must. Choose products without controversial filters and as natural as possible. Make sure your SPF both UV-A and UV-B Covers rays. Must be labeled on the bottle.
4. Choose sunscreen that you can sufficient amount to be adequately protected. If you skimp on the amount of SPF 50 because the sunscreen leaves too much white residue or is too sticky, you're no better protected than if you apply the correct amount of SPF 20.
5. SPF: SPF 20, for example, offers approximately 95% protection against UVB rays. SPF 50: Offers approximately 98% protection against UVB rays.
How long does SPF 20 last? "... If a person can stay in the sun for 10 minutes at a certain UV intensity without reddening (the skin's own protection time), a sunscreen with SPF 20 extends the protected time to 200 minutes (10 x 20) – at least under optimal conditions..." (Source: www.bfs.de)
It is therefore important to reapply SPF regularly.
Apply facial oils & sunscreen:
Use your daily skincare products before applying sunscreen. Sunscreen is your last step in your skincare routine.
For your morning care, it is easiest to mix 5 drops Soothing Nectar with 1-2 drops Intensive Daycare Facial Oil - that's all you need - in the palm of your hand and apply it to your face. After it's all absorbed into your skin, apply your sunscreen.
Our oils are quickly and easily absorbed into the skin without leaving a greasy residue and can be applied under your sunscreen. Sunscreen is your last step in your skincare routine.
Tip: We do not recommend applying another cream over the sunscreen, as you want optimal protection from UV radiation and do not want the protection to smear.
